Crime Stoppers, the anonymous reporting platform, is launching a digital awareness campaign to target illegal firearms in Aotearoa.
Crime Stoppers CEO Hadyn Smith says there’s no safety catch on firearms held illegally.
“We know there may be people who don’t have a licence for their firearm. If you know someone that should not have a firearm, let us know.”
Smith believes not everyone will report what they know to the Police, and having an anonymous and independent third-party channel like Crime Stoppers to report criminal activity can be used by anyone safely.
Crime Stoppers wants Aotearoa to say what they know through www.crimestoppers-nz.org or ring 0800 555 111 24/7 and 365 days a year.
Campaign activity will be seen across TVNZ, Stuff, NZ Herald, MetService, Trade Me, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, BBC, CNN and many others.
